Booking Palo more than in your party

When booking Palo are you able to book for lets say 4 then adjust to 3 like you can do for Disney World restaurants.

If you have 4 in your cabin (or connected reservations), then yes. But you reserve by clicking the names, not specifying group size. You should notify Palo ahead of time if one of the guests is not coming - usual cancellation is 24 hours. You could also sub out people if the actual guests are different (once onboard). They will ask for your room key to pay at the end.

As described above, every passenger booked at Palo (and other onboard activities and excursions) is booked individually, and cancellations must be made at least a day in advance to avoid possible charges.

The time frame for booking in advance depends on the Castaway Club level of the person in the stateroom with the highest Castaway Club level. So for example, if you are a Silver member (that is, someone who has cruised on Disney Cruise 1-4 times before) and your reservation is linked to two first-time cruisers, you won't be able to book a reservation that includes them until their booking window opens a few weeks after yours. If you book and then they book later, you can usually combine the reservations once you're onboard.

You should also be aware that because all bookings require the names of the passengers involved, it is not possible for a passenger to have two reservations (for example, a Palo dinner and an alcohol tasting) at the same time. You can book someone at Palo and then cancel their booking up to 24 hours in advance, but they won't be able to schedule anything else at that time unless their Palo reservation is cancelled.

So if I understand correctly, I can’t book a reservation that includes people that are not in my stateroom unless our reservations are linked? And if the other people are in a lower castaway club level, I can’t include them unless their booking window has opened?

I ask because my husband and I are cruising in February, and our daughter and her husband will be on the same cruise. I was hoping I could book a Palo reservation for all four of us when the gold booking window opens; daughter and SIL are silver.

If I book a reservation for just the two of us (me and DH), what are the chances we could add them once we are onboard? Has anyone done this?

Yes, you are correct about the linked reservation.

I'd guess the chances are pretty fair to add them later (when their window opens would be best), but onboard is do-able.

You might want to see if you are able to switch the names of the people in the two staterooms so you and your daughter are in one stateroom, and your husband and SIL are in the other stateroom, This way both staterooms would be able to book Palo (and excursions, tastings etc.) when bookings open up for Gold.

We were silver and my mom and step dad were first time cruisers, I was able to get a table for 4 when their booking window opened, so you could just book all together during the silver window. We ended up cancelling because I spaced on booking the nursery but getting the table for 4 was doable.

Yeah, I don’t want to do that because there’s always a risk we might have to cancel our trip last minute, if bad weather cancels our flight or my 90 year old MIL suffers a fall or other health emergency. Changing the staterooms would create problems if that happened,I think.

So I am confused and I’ve asked this before. My DD is silver, her husband is a first timer, so when can she try for palo brunch??

If they are in the same room, she can book for both of them when Silver booking opens. For booking, everyone in the room has the Castaway Club level of the person in the room with the highest level.

Thanks for the clarification.

@Kesohio63 - we were told it was easier to switch days for our dinner (once we were onboard) because we had a reservation. I would think the same may hold true for getting a bigger table.

A lot of times, it’s the 2-tops that show as unavailable during pre-cruise reservations.

If you book for you and husband and then try to pre-book Palo for all four, you may not be given the option. Sometimes, you have drop your reservation before you can book something else. It’s one of their software issues. If you use their cruise reservation number, at least you can see if availability times.

The exception to this is if the person doing the booking is concierge and goes through shoreside services. I had booked three cabins for my family, but only my wife and I were concierge. We are silver, the adult kids were first timers, but shoreside linked us all together and booked palo for us when the concierge window opened which is well ahead of silver.

I’ll probably try to book for the two of us and add the other two after their window opens or on embarkation day.
