Booking online when 11 month window opens

I can't believe I've never done this, but want to book our next vacation right when the window opens. Being that some resorts book up fast, right when the window opens, how far can you go in the booking process (online) prior to hitting "search" and have the account actively search for availability?

For instance, should you have clicked in all the way to resort location and room type, then await that 8am EST to hit the "SEARCH" or "REFRESH" button?

I know about "walking" and all that, just want to try for the actual day we want to begin our stay. It's not all that important to go through that much work..

I am not completely sure about your question but you know that you can only book your home resort at the 11 month mark. I am guessing that you want December Christmas time. It also depends on what size unit and which is your home resort.

I edited my post to clarify. This will be for my home resort when the booking window opens online at 8am EST.

I'll tell you the reason for my request for info... on DCL's site, you cannot even be logged in at the "magic time" when the window opens for booking port arrival time, no refreshing, nothing. You have to log in after the time arrives then begin the process.

To begin a search for a room booking, at my home resort, when the window opens for the 11 month mark, how far can I be along in the information process to have it not reject and have me start over?

On the DVC site, once you get to the initial reservation page where you choose dates, resort and room type, you have to wait there until 8 a.m. eastern when booking exactly 11 months out from date of arrival because the system won't let you enter your arrival date as your first date until 8 a.m. Just be sure to enter on that page the resort and room you want before 8.
