Hi,

I've been looking into booking a vacation for next summer at one of the WDW resort hotels, with a package deal (still deciding on which one- there's so many!). I've been using WDW's website to check out making a reservation, but I can't find any information on their site to let me know what type of deposit they require be made up front at the time I make the reservation. Would anyone be able to let me know what the deposit policies are for package deals, and also when is the remaining balance due?

Thanks for any help!

Amy

I believe if you book a package, the down payment is $200, and you can get a refund up to 45 days out...

...In any case, you can go through the reservation process on the website, and before you have to enter any information about yourself (name, address, credit card), you'll get a quote with the required deposit. Just keep clicking next until you get this screen. Then, if you don't want to book, you can just cancel out.

Packages require a minimum $200 deposit. Quotes that include transportation require the $200 plus your transportation (airfare etc.) at time of booking. Final payment is due 45 days before your trip.

At the end of the online quote on the main Disney site, after you select room, tix, view, etc. you wilol get a screen that gives you the amount of your quote and the deposit due.

Room only ressies require the first nights stay as a deposit with the balnce due at checkin

I did make my deposit online - it was $200 deposit and the balance due 45 days before the trip.

I do want to mention that I was never able to access my reservation online after the deposit-I ended up calling to confirm everything and making final payment. I remember a few people mentioning on this board that they had the same problem.

Thanks, everyone! That is exactly the information I was looking for. It's nice to have so many responses so quickly- I've noticed that with this board from reading posts. A lot of friendly, helpful people here. I'm sure I'll have more questions later- I'm a total newbie with WDW.

Hi -

Also in case you are just going to book the room only (not a package) the only deposit you need is one night, which someone posted earlier, but you have two weeks to pay that deposit. Basically they will hold the reservation for those 14 days before the deposit of one night is due.

The thought of booking a room only reservation is appealing- I like the idea of not having to pay the balance until I check out of the hotel, instead of the 45 days out policy with the packages. This will probably factor in quite a bit with my decision on whether to go with the package deal or room only.

I agree with you, also the packages for us are just extra money for things that we really don't need or use. I am probably going to order my park tickets through hotwire (a lot of people on this board have done this with good results) as they don't charge shipping where as Disney does.

Also, I am not sure, but I think that I have read somewhere that when you ckeck in to your hotel they charge you at that time for your whole stay and then at the end of your stay you are billed for your room charges. I may be wrong on this so please DIS experts correct me if I am wrong.

Have fun planning your trip...

Thanks for the tip about Hotwire- I hadn't heard about that before. I'm definitely going to check into that myself. From what I saw on Disney's site, you can purchase tickets in advance and save about ten bucks from what you'd pay at the gate.
