I think I have seen on here that a good thing to do when you book another cruise is to just do a minimun number of people. There are three of us total and I know our funds will be depleted by the end of this cruise so can I book for just two of us (an obviously we would pay the adult rate for the first two) and then I can add my youngest at a later time? The purpose of this would be to only have to pay $500 deposit on the ship at the time of booking! Thoughts?

FANTASTIC! I wanted to book our next cruise on the ship on our last cruise but did not realize that you had to pay the deposit that minute. Anyways, Disney would have had another cruise booked if I had thought of what you did. Well come to think of it we are still going Nov. 6 Western, but whatever. I would have booked it on the ship.:earseek: :earseek: :earseek: Have a great trip!

2 years ago, they told us we could wait to put the deposit down when we got home as we had a different credit card we wanted to use. they were very nice about it. we didnt do it. we were surprized we couldnt book on our 9/7/04 cruise

You could not book on the cruise? Did they tell you why not? That is weird. I thought you had to do the deposit right then and actually I would rather get it over with, you know?

We have done this in the past. Saves the deposit money.
The only drawback/possible problem would be that IF you have a child in your group that you may not be able to get them on the ship if you haven't booked them originally. There is a maximum number of children allowed on the ship so the clubs don't get overloaded and once that number is met you will NOT be able to add a child.

Cheers,

If you are going go rebook onboard you will now need to plan on 500 per person for a 7 day cruise. This went into affect this past week. There was a thread on the board about it.

Oh, did not think about that. I will add her about 8 months before so I think I should be OK. Plus I think I will like sailing in the winter better, so I don't think the demand will be as high as in summer or spring break. Thanks for the reminder though. Wouldn't that be terrible if I forgot to book her?? I can totally see myself doing that!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: We would show up and they would be all "where is your ticker" and I would be like "  " Just kidding there is no way that could happen but it is kind of funny.....

I just now booked a 7 day for 2005 and my deposit was only 250 a person. I did it on line on dcl site.

Holy cow, are you kidding? D'oh! I was not planning on that. Then I guess they will have to wait a while because if $750 was going to be hard, then $1000 will be even harder!

It says $350 pp if in the Cat 12 we will be booking (in the hopes of being bumped of course!) so that will be a little better :(

The post from ladytampa says, "In addition, the deposit for room categories 4-12 will increase on cruises that are 10 or more nights in length from $250 to $350."

So, unless you getting a suite or you're booking a 10-night (or longer) cruise, the deposit for a Disney Magic cruise remains $250 per person.

I know coming up with $250 per person is easier for some people than for other people, but I would strongly recommend booking the entire travelling party at the same time.

You'll lock in the best early-booking rate for everyone; you'll get a stateroom the can handle your party size; and you'll know that the clubs can accomodate the children. You'll have to pay the whole amount eventually; by paying the full deposit up front, you'll have less to pay later.

How I understand it the dep. increase is for suite cat 1-3 on both (3, 4, and 7) and for cruises of 10 days or more. But the dep. is the same for cat 4-12 for 3, 4, and 7 nights. The days until total payment is due has changed for all. In hope of fixing the problem with people cancellling last minute.

WHEW!!! What a relief!!! Sorry, I read the first post a few days ago & picked up the 500 pp part & was bummed that it would cost us 2000 to put the deposit down for the next cruise.

When we rebooked on board, we asked that the deposit not be charged to our card until the next billing cycle, which was two to three days after the cruise ended. They were more than accomodating.
