I am cruising in sept...additionally I am looking at a 4 night cruise in January to take my Mom for her 70th Birthday. The price on DU is $1458.85, for 3 in category 11.
Do you think I would get a better rate than that booking on board? From reading prior posts, I keep hearing 10% discount for booking on board, 10% off of what price?

The 10 percent is off of the price of the cruise itself. It isn't off of taxes, port charges, etc. When we cruised in June, you got 10 percent off plus a $100 onboard credit. I would think it would be better to book onboard, but since you aren't cruising until Sept., I can see why you might want to book now.

Why not book now and then check while you are onboard to see what the price would be? You can always cancel your existing reservation if needed. Just a thought. :) We rebooked for a four night and it's already gone up $80 since June.

10% off the price of the cruise (so, no discount off of port fees, taxes, transfers, insurance, etc.)

if you want to lock in the price now -- book now (you'll just have to put down the deposit) -- if the deal onboard is better, you can probably switch it (or at worse, book onboard and cancel the first one)

Is there still a points discount for DVC members and do you still have 3 days after return to take advantage of that? It's been a couple years since we cruised.
