I have 2 questions -
First, I already have my home resort booked but looking to book AKV once my 7 day window opens up. How do I do that? Do I attempt to book it and then cancel my home resort, or cancel my home resort and then book it? If I cancel first and there's no availability at AKV I'm afraid I won't be able to book the original reservation again.
Second, has anyone attempted to book on their mobile phone? My daughter has her tee ball parade at 8am on the day I need to book so I'm thinking I either need to do this on my phone or take a chance and wait until I get home later.

I have booked through the browser in my phone (android).

I think you might be better off waiting till 9am to switch. Not sure how likely AKV will book up for those dates. There have been successes booking and canceling using 2 different browsers, but I'm not sure I'd try that with a phone!

My current reservation is using banked points. I have enough to book the 2nd hotel with current points but will I lose the banked points?

In your situation, if I were worried about getting the reservation at 7 months, and didn't want to risk ending up with nothing, I'd book the desired reservation online at 8 am Eastern using current use year points. After securing the desired reservation, I would cancel the home resort reservation. That returns banked points to my account.

Then I would send an email to MS asking that they reallocate the points in my account such that the reservation uses the banked points and frees up the current points.

Depending on what you want at AKV (and when), that may not be necessary, though. AKV almost always has availability at 7 months so you could wait and call MS at 9 AM. Check the RAT and/or send drusba a PM to see what happened for your dates and booking category over the past few years.

I agree with Carol - AKV is very large and almost always has good availability at 7 months (except in the value & concierge rooms). I would just keep an eye out on the resort availability tool on the DVC website and not panic unless you're seeing it already booked up for your dates.

If you have enough points to book double, I'd book a second villa at your home resort then if there's availability for the days you need at AKV, cancel the FIRST one with the banked points and rebook on the phone (or iPad or notebook with wifi access). You could then cancel the newer backup reservation that was made. Of course to do this you need to be outside your banking window and have enough points for the double booking. You might try out a wifi hotspot or borrow someone's iPad or computer that had internet access rather than trying on the phone.

It may have taken a little more time but I called my change in at the 7 month point
the cm I talked with was very helpful said she would make sure the room I wanted was avalable before she canceled the reservation for my ho e resort
