this might be a really dumb question - but we are about to go on our first disney cruise. I keep reading how it's worth booking your next cruise while on this one. We are florida residents and they usually have fl res discounts - not to mention sometimes I'm noticing they have onboard cash bonuses... so if you book online do you get any perks and is the discount really better than the fl resident ones?

Fl res is probley better but are limited on cruises if you book on board you can
book further in advance from more choice.

If you book onboard, you will get the following:
10% discount off fares
reduced 10% deposit (vs full 20%) on cruises of 7+ nights
$200 OBC for cruises of 7+ nights
$100 OBC for cruises of less than 7 nights

Cruises booked onboard are subject to some blackout dates and must be completed within 18 months of original (onboard) booking date. OBB reservations can be moved or changed, but still must be completed within the 18 month window.

FLR rates are typically released closer to sail date. Usually within the PIF period but not always. I believe (could be wrong) that an FLR rate can be applied to a regular booking without cancel/rebook -- but you can't stack the OBB and FLR rates together, it would be one or the other. FLR rates are sometimes restrictive as to what category and only offered for specific cruise dates; it may be a better deal than your OBB, it probably depends how far out your OBB was made and how much regular fares have increased.

Enjoy your cruise!

If your plans are to always cruise out of Florida in the offseason it's probably not worth booking onboard. If you want to experience Alaska, Europe, Hawaii or any other special cruises it's definitely worth booking onboard.

Thank you guys for all the great info!! We just booked our first cruise for our honeymoon next year!! We wanted to early book as well! I want get the early book discount and go to Alaska! :))
