For anyone that bought DVC points during the free cruise incentive. If you have more than 4 people in your family and need to book another room, DCL will not guarantee your rooms are even close together. We booked a 4 NT cruise using the DVC voucher for one cat 9 GTY room and paid for the other cat 9 room. We linked both reservations together. We just got our cruise docks and were assigned a cat 9 cabin on deck 1 forward while our paid cabin is on deck 2 midship. I called DCL and they said all cat 9 rooms for this cruise are sold out so there is nothing they can do.

Here is my gripe: We know (from others on our cruise meet thread) that several peple that booked single cat 12 GTY cabins were upgraded to cat 9 cabins on deck 2. I'm a little ticked because I don't understand why they even have an option to link rooms if they are not even going to try to keep you together. I'm not asked for connecting cabins or even cabins next to each other. I would just like to at least be on the same deck! Not to mention that the majority of cat 9 cabins are on deck 2.

BTW, they do have cat 8 and 7 cabins available so if they upgrades someone from a cat 12 GTY to a cat 9, then why can't they just upgrade them to a cat 8 and give us their cat 9 cabin. I'm not asking for an upgrade, I would just like to be close to my family. :sad2:

Ok, thanks for letting me vent. I have never and will never again book a GTY room, but we had no choice with the voucher. And next time, if there is one, I will not be buying more points unless there is a cash incentive.

I understand completely. We had 7 cabins, all midship deck 6 already booked and linked before we received our DVC voucher, so we cancelled one cabin when we made our reservation using the voucher, linked everything back up, paid for the upgrade to cat. 6, we get our room assignment and we're on deck 7.

I've arranged the whole trip and I'm not with our group. :sad2:

Oh well! :rolleyes1

On the bright side, we leave for WDW on Sunday! :thumbsup2

My understanding is that the DVC vouchers are so heavily discounted, DCL doesn't go out of their way to accommodate any requests.

We were told that we could pay for a upgrade to cat 6 for a party of 3 or cat 5 for a party of 4. That's it, no other upgrades will be offered and expect the worse cabins on the ship.

We were also told that we couldn't request a upgrade on departure day.

:) Bill
