Booking Multiple Resorts (Room Only)

I am booked with a great rate at the Yacht Club for next fall (2018) thanks to a friend who is a CM. However, I am wondering if I should book an extra reservation in case something happens (aka: she moves on from Disney). To my understanding, room only reservations can be canceled 5 days in advance? So I figure an extra reservation somewhere else might be good "insurance"? Thoughts?

You may need to put a duplicate reservation in someone else's name. The system won't let you book identical dates under the same name.

I certainly hope this is not true. I currently have four reservations under my name with either the exact same dates, or at least overlapping dates. I am not sure what our budget will allow so as we get closer I will narrow it down.

@MaskedRose86 absolutely try booking a second reservation under your name if you are worried about being able to take advantage of your friends' discount.

Yeah I can't imagine that's the case because what if you have a common name, will they only allow one "John Smith" to be booked in all of Disney at once?

And all of the reservations are linked to my MDE with all the same people stay in each room.

Disney doesn't like it when guests book multiple resorts for the same stay. If they see it they are within their rights to cancel all of the reservations. I don't think they catch it very often, but I have seen posters in the past who had trouble.

Thanks for the heads up maximsmom. I used the search function real quick and couldn't find anything so hopefully it is a VERY rare occurrence. I guess I'll have to take my chances!

I actually tried to do this because our dates were unsure and because some of our dates overlapped ( even though they weren't exact ) the agent told us we had to cancel only.

Now if you are looking at several different dates that don't cross over- that probably wouldn't be an issue because maybe you are looking at booking that many trips ( or at least a computer system would have a harder time catching )

I currently have duplicate reservations for the same party and the same dates at the same resort.

Interesting - I just know our experience and I was told no double bookings. I had called in - did you do the same or was it done online? Just interested on how one gets told one thing and someone else another.

I booked all of mine online. Today I had to call to have the passholder discount applied and the CM saw all my reservations and I said I was hedging my bets if I wasn't able to save enough for the deluxe resorts and there was a possibility we might have to change dates due to a work conflict. His reply was "You certainly have all your bases covered."

He was able to apply the discount to my most expensive reservation, at AKL but not to WL or YC, so I may need to use the POFQ reservation after all!

I did it all online. They were booked on three separate days. I've since cancelled the two reservations that would have resulted in a split stay.
