Last year we wanted to add an extra day to our reservation at OKW when Hurricane Jean was going to hit. They were saying the roads would be closed at a certain point. We were staying at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas and wanted to get to WDW before that happened. I forgot member services was closed on the weekend - I had called my daughter at home to have her call them as she had the membership numbers there. I was really surprised when she called me back and said we were all set. She had called OKW directly after trying MS and they were able to add the day- It was probably the fact that it was adding the day to an existing ressie plus being a Saturday (lots of Points for that 2BR and worth every one of them to get into the Disney room before the storm hit) that enabled them to do it. I doubt that you can make a new ressie that way but maybe if you were in the area and just wanted a Saturday or Sunday night and they had space it could be done. They were putting up all the people from Fort Wildermess and those whose cruises weren't going out so I feel we were very lucky to get that extra night.

The front desk at DVC resorts does have limited access to member accounts to help with immediate reservations over weekends or other times that MS is unavailable. They cannot make a reservation for anything other than that resort and for the time MS is closed.

If a reservation needs to be cancelled on short notice, the resort may also be called directly to cancel if MS is not open (ie- if you need to cancel a Sunday arrival on Saturday, the resort may be able to assist- if you wait until Sunday to call, the reservation is already considered complete and normally can't be cancelled).

our recent trip during easter, dh and i decided since we drove and all the springbreaks will be going home over the week and if the weather was going to be a hot day again we were going to stay. but we didnt want to make the ressies until saturday morning using points. i called ms friday and after several times putting me on hold to find out if we could go right to a dvc resort on sat. (since ms is closed on weekends) and have the front desk book our one night on points if the room was available. and the answer is yes. if you are down in wdw already and you want to add another night on points and ms is closed you can just go to the dvc resort's front desk and seeif they have the availablility using points and the front desk should be able to book the stay. needless to say the next day saturday it was only going up to 70 and thunderstorms all day, very cold and gloomy in the morning so we started home with the other 100 million springbreakers, it took us an extra 3 hours to get home with a dozen of accidents that we seen.
