Not quite sure which board to put this on so might get moved, but this has nothing to do with WDW or Orlando. But, need to find out if travel website hotel bookings allow you to collect loyalty points for that company. I've received a financial incentive to book thru a travel website. I don't, however, see a place to enter my loyalty number. Do I just wait 'til check-in or are they not eligible to earn points? I know they take my airline number at the time of booking but I don't normally book hotels this way.

Thanks

I know you are probably meaning travelocity, expedia, etc...but I only have DH's experience with staying in hotels booked at hotels.com.

And the answer is...some of them will take the info on checkin, some won't. On one trip he stayed in two related hotels in different countries. One was happy to give him credit and the perks. The other wouldn't give him credit, but gave him a free drink ticket as you normally get with that hotels frequent stay program. :confused3 So it's very much up to the hotel. But he always takes his index card with all the frequent stayer program numbers on it, and asks about it.

Sometimes it's just that you're booking at a discount...this has nothing to do with a travel site, but the Anaheim HoJo is part of Wyndam rewards. They will NOT give you rewards credit if you've booked at the very low Entertainment Book rate that the Anaheim hotel (and only the Anaheim one) has. That's a special special deal, and the rewards people feel that it's so low you don't get rewards on top of it.

I recently did my internship working front desk at a Courtyard By Marriott and if a guest booked their reservation through Expedia which we got a lot of reservations for, those guests wouldn't get points if they were Marriott Rewards members because the rates from Expedia were very low.

Some hotels will only extend loyalty points if you book directly through the hotel's website. Hotels will frequently match any non-consolidator, publicly available rate, offered by sites like Expedia.

Hotels pay a commission to internet TAs like Expedia. Book direct and the hotel saves the commission.

Wanted to add a specific here. DH is staying at an Accor hotel right now. He won't get points, but they are giving him the other perks like free breakfast. We're not going to quibble about the points, as we don't book him on the brand/parent company, but on what hotel works best and has the best price for each individual trip.

We have other reasons for booking through hotels.com, too. :)
