Booking HDDR at age 9, dinning at age 10?

DS is currently 9 years old, so when I go to book our Hoop Dee Doo Review ADRs I am charged the child price (yay!). However, when we arrive in 180 days he will have turned 10. Will I be charged the difference at a later date? I certainly expect to pay adult price for him, but I would prefer not to be surprised by an additional charge later on.

Thanks!

His birthdate is listed in MDE. It says he is 9 now (which he is) but his ticket for our trip in August is listed as a 10+ ticket (because he will be 10). Does that make sense? Because I am confusing myself as I type ;-)

If his ticket isn't an adult ticket, I would be prepared to pay, because it will come up as at least a 10 year old.

I believe that HDDR is pre-paid (I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong) and my credit card will be charged the full price when making my ADR. If I pay the child price for his HDDR ticket now, will they later charge me the difference?

TIA!

They won't suddenly bill the difference & they won't "card" your son at the door. I wouldn't bother calling about it. If you have a crisis of conscience when you arrive, you can certainly mention it, but I'm willing to bet that there will be no charge added. Perhaps you can set some cash aside, intending to pay, and then think of it as a bonus if it's not necessary. Hope you enjoy HDDR!

I have the same exact issue with the Tomorrowland Dessert party. I just booked and paid yesterday, my son is 9. When we attend the party my son will be 10. I don’t think they scan bans to enter HDDR or the dessert party so I think it is just one of those things that you get a bit of a bonus on.

Because you are prepaying, I would just let it go. I have no idea how your ticket situation is or if you are on the DDP, but the way Disney works is that you are the age you are at the time of travel, so in this case, your child is 10. I agree that in your situation, it ius a bit of a bonus.

is he listed as a child on his park tickets? he could be asked at the gate by CM and you could have to pay the difference. we had trouble on one of grandsons MAW trips when we didn't get the right number of tickets. we were able to fix that night but needed some Pixie Dust at the gate that first day.

Do you have your son's birthdate listed in MDE, or just his age?
This.
I've never put my children's actual birthdate in MDE - only their age. I have always listed them as the age they will be at the time of our trip when making our reservation and therefore any ADRs we make correctly carry over at that age.

No DDP, so I will definitely consider it a little bonus! :D Thank you all!

I wouldn't consider it a bonus until you try and correct it and are told you are fine. You know what you should be paying for your son. If you offer to pay that and are told you are ok that is one thing. If you know what you are paying is different than what you should be paying that is something else. I'd at least try and do the right thing.

As I said in my original post, I certainly plan on being charged the full adult price for DS. I am not trying to get away with anything. His birthdate is listed in MDE and he has an adult ticket assigned to him because he will be 10 when we travel. There wasn't an option for me to pay for an adult ticket for him when I made our HDDR ADR. I am prepared to pay the difference, I just want to be aware of it and not randomly charged.

My question was really just wanting to know if I would be automatically billed that additional amount at a later time, without notice. I am fully prepared and expecting to pay it, I just want to be aware of my charges.

Thank you for all the opinions!

Hmm, I would have sworn it was "smart" enough to know the difference between age now and age later, when you put in the birthday. Just experimented with my cousin who is 9 now, with a Hoop ADR for now vs after her birthday. Didn't update. Looked in the info I have for her, and it only showed age (though I once did put in her b'day). Updated it with her birthday, tried again, didn't update.

Weird!

Exactly what I thought too!
