booking hair/makeup

I am curious to know how far in advance is advised to book hair and makeup and how you decided to who to use?

My wedding is this December and I booked Ana (Beaute Speciale) back in April so 8 months before. Part of the reason I did that as I also booked a trial run with her in May so they just booked everything all at once however they had no problem booking it that early either.

I booked Patricia LeJeune about 8 months in advance...right around the time we confirmed our Escape wedding with Disney.

I know many who have booked earlier than that...Wishes brides, for example, can confirm with Disney at 12 months, so they tend to book outside vendors sooner than Escape brides. I think it depends on when your wedding is... If you are getting married on Valentine's Day, for example, you probably have to book way further out than someone getting married on a Tuesday in early November.

As for picking your hair/make-up people.... reading the PJs of fellow Disney brides was extremely helpful. I don't have the luxury of a trial-run, so I'm relying on other people's pictures to see the work of the various companies. Beaute Speciale and Patricia LeJeune seem to be the big two... And I think it just comes down to personal style....how much make-up you normally wear or want to wear on your wedding day... how you like your eyes to look, etc. Both get great reviews on the Boards.

I chose to use Patricia Lejeune based on seeing her work on other DisBrides, especially Carrie (Lurkyloo) as she has pale skin, like me - I didn't want to end up with a face that didn't match my body!

I also really liked the idea of the airbrush make up, and it felt very light on the day.

I can also say Patricia is one of the loveliest people you could meet!

I booked Patricia today and my wedding is little more than 2 months away, so I got very very lucky it sounds like!

I booked Ana from Beaute Speciale about a year out. I knew I wanted to get her and you don't pay until much closer to the wedding, so it didn't make sense to wait. To get an idea of who to use, you can look at pics from past brides. Most brides seem to use Beaute Speciale or Patricia LeJuene, but there are many more in the area. I had Ana do my make-up for my e-pics since her prices were a little better and we weren't sure if we were having a Disney wedding yet, so I wanted to keep costs down. Even though Patricia is known for a more natural look, Ana did a great job at creating a natural look for me and I loved the way my make-up turned out. Either way, you'll be in great hands!
