Anyone have experience booking the Grand Floridian 11 months out using points during October? I tried to make reservations today and they told me that there's no reservations at all. Do know if they will release rooms later or am I just out of luck. We're new DVC members.
Thanks in advance. I would really appreciate some help.:)

DVC might not have completed negotiations for 2011 points at non-DVC Disney resorts yet.

The 2011 charts are out for Disney Collection resorts in Florida, so it's odd that there is an issue with reservations. Usually, they don't issue the charts until negotiations are complete.

ep1229 - Try calling again. If you still can't make a reservation, perhaps the CM can tell you when you can (or at least why you can't). You culd also try sending an email message to the Member Satisfaction Team and see what response they have for you.

Good luck!

The points are crazy for that resort. Wouldn't you be better looking for a discount and book it with cash. I could be wrong, but when I priced a room out, it seemed really high.

It may be that Disney has simply not released any availability for that time period to DVC, yet. Or perhaps they are expecting to be fully booked for a special function, or maybe several rooms will be down for rehab.

Another thing I've seen is that hotels that have conventions may block out a large number of rooms until they know the number of rooms that are actually booked by the convention. I'd make backup arrangements and then call back occasionally to see if something opens up.

Other have answered your question, but I wanted to make sure you know there will be a $95 dollar fee to book outside of a DVC resort. The cancellation policys are also different. I would also compare the point cost. I would much rather spend my points on a week+ in a one bedroom DVC resort as opposed to 2-3 nights at the grand.

(This was my most disappointing Disney stay ever.. That was the flagship "deluxe"?... just :( )

We enjoyed our stay at the GF. The pool was nice, the grounds were nice, the room was nice. But it was just a room and not a villa.

I've never had anything but completely lovely stays at GF. I'd go back again gladly, but I wouldn't use DVC points to pay - I think the point levels required are too high.

Perhaps they bought a sweet resale and opted to splurge... Our resale contracts were fully loaded so we treated ourselves to the Poly Lagoon View Concierge for a sick amount of points, but it was a great trip and our bill was zero!!

That's how we felt about the YC.... Everything was nice, but it was just a hotel room.

Just wanted to update everyone... I was able to book 7 night stay at GF today. I guess they don't always release the rooms right away at 11 months.

The reason we're using our points for GF (normally I would not do this), is because we had an Alaskan Cruise scheduled that we had to cancel because my brother is getting married that same week! We got stuck with RESERVATION points that we could not use for the DVC resorts. So, might as well splurge. I've always wanted to stay there and it's close to MK, we have little kids and we'd probably spend more time there.

Seems like a good plan to me! Enjoy your stay!

Enjoy! I'm sure even with the amount of points - you will love it!

You'll have a great time. It's a very nice resort.

I have stayed there twice (we just became DVC members this year while staying there) and we love it. It is not the Ritz Carlton and we have not yet had the joy of staying in a one bedroom but it certainly has its magic. I know you will have tons of fun!
