Booking free dining, but hoping for a room only code...

I was planning to book free dining with a Deluxe dining upgrade, then my DH said he wants to stay at CR or another MK resort. With that in mind, a room only discount would be much better for the 2 of us. I'm thinking of booking with free dining, then switching to room only if the opportunity arises. Are there any cons to doing it this way? We've never booked a package, so I'm not sure of the policy. Thanks in advance for the help.

You have to pay a $200. deposit when you make your ressie and you have up to 45th day before your trip to cancel without a penalty. In your case since you would be making changes, you probably wouldn't have any penalties.

If your dates are flexible, magical journeys has some unbelievable rates:

I'm also in the same situation - I have FD booked (at the CR, too actually, but thinking of switching to the Poly), but a room only discount would probably work out better for us. I hope switching won't be a problem! I've checked out historical room only discount release dates for the general public for the fall, and they've come out at the end of June in the past, so I guess we have a couple of months to find out how the switching will work!
