Looking at the past, it seems unlikely for a free dinning in March. Should we go ahead and book as soon as the prices open up? If we do, should we add the dinning plan now or wait and see and add later. Would it make a difference? Just tossing around some thoughts...thanks!

If you will go regardless of whether or not FD comes out, I would book as soon as the 2014 rates are released to ensure you get what you want; otherwise, I would wait to see what discounts (if any) come out for your dates as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied. As far as which reservation type to book, it all depends on what you want. If you book room only now and want to change to a package later, the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new deposit (this also goes for changing from a package to room only). Since room only and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other, which is the reason for cancelling/rebooking. HTH :).

sounds like i need to book a package as soon as booking opens. i think the dinning can be added whenever, right?

Yes, the DDP can easily be added to a package (room + tickets), as long as it's done at least 3 days (72 hours) prior to arrival :).

Thank you. Now to pick the resort

Interested in AoA for spring break 2014 and I'm ready to book tomorrow.

Assuming there is no FD (which I know I can add later if it becomes available), what kind of package deal can I expect?

Does the savings differ that much from booking room only and adding tickets from Undercover Tourist?

What is the package cancellation policy vs. room only? I know they use two different reservations systems, so I'm assuming their policies are probably different.

You're welcome :). Good luck choosing a resort. I love that there are so many choices, but it's also hard because there are so many GREAT choices ;).

You can save a little by booking room only and getting your park tickets elsewhere, but other than that, there isn't any difference in price if you book room only/tickets separately through Disney or book a complete package through Disney. If there is no FD but Disney offers a room discount, you don't have to book room only as a room discount can be used on a package as well. The discount would apply to the room portion only, but can be used on either type of reservation.

Yes, the cancellation policies are different for packages and room only reservations. Packages require a deposit of $200 with the balance due 45 days prior to arrival. If cancelled 45 days or more from arrival, no charge; if cancelled 44 days or less from arrival, there is a $200 cancellation fee. For room only, you must cancel at least 5 days prior to arrival to avoid a cancellation fee of 1 night's room rate + tax.

HTH :)
