I need help! Looking for most inexpensive way to book flights leaving from US (Chicago) to Paris. We are then taking Eurostar to London so we will be returning home from London. One-way tickets can be expensive. Any booking sites out there that can book arriving one airport, returning from another? Thanks in advance.

Kayak will compare major sites. I also looked at momondo.com and they searched cheaper airlines

Most sites let you check, just click on the "advanced search" under flights. Tuesdays and Saturdays tend to be the cheapest days to book flights.

I also suggest using Kayak as a reference, but don't book through them. When I'm searching for international flights I always search several cities within a five-hour driving distance. ORD is one of those for me and usually has good prices, so you should be able to find something. And actually, one-way flights are not like they used to be; you can get a good deal. Also don't forget to try to travel on a Tuesday and not the weekend. And don't look too early. About three months out is the safe zone! Good luck!

One more thing, clear your cookies and you'll see your rates drop, too. Sneaky websites :)

Agreed, Kayak is good resource, have you looked into Iceland Air? That is who I booked our flights to Paris through as they allow 2 pieces of luggage free and it was actually cheaper for me to book each flight separately. I actually saved a few hundred doing this not sure why it was cheaper, we do have about an hour layover in Iceland but it was worth it for the savings.

We flew Iceland Air through Toronto! Great deal and even stayed three days in Iceland--wonderful country! However, I don't think they fly from Chicago. OP, if you're willing, check Toronto.

Booking one way tickets to travel internationally is very expensive. You need to book what is known as an open jaw ticket; explanation here:

For example, on United Airlines, select a multiple destination flight. First, ORD-CDG, then LHR-ORD. It should be about the same as flying ORD-CDG round trip.

Also, it's usually more expensive to fly out of LHR than into LHR because they have a departure tax (last I checked). Flying into LHR is just fine though :)
Just an FYI!

Clear cookies, really? I have never heard that. I will try it. I also always thought anything 3mo or less out was more expensive. I've always tried to book at least 6mo out. Thanks for the info.

I will have to check Kayak. Thanks. My DH is military so we can usually fly baggage free.

Bummer. We wanted to visit London last. I will have to see what the difference is. Thanks.

I have never heard of that! Will have to look into it. Thanks.

Sometimes it's worth looking, but I get itineraries, sometimes they just have to work a certain way :)
Also, check round trips from CDG (paris). Sometimes the flights are cheaper round trip, even with a round trip on the Eurostar (Paris to London/London to Paris). Eurostar is amazingly easy to transfer to anywhere within London (right next to Kings Cross train and subways station).

Have fun and play around with flights, sometimes it's cheaper to do an open jaw, but most of the times it's cheaper for round trips.

I wish you luck and hope you find the cheapest flights that match your plans! pixiedust:
