Im seeing this as a decent option for price, but wondered what happens in terms of picking seats, boarding passes etc. does anyone have any feedback to share?

We normally drive but I'm traveling with my 3 kids without hubby this time.

It all depends on which airline you are planning on flying with. You can usually pick seats and pay for them when you purchase your tickets or you can wait until the 24 hour mark and check in and pick them at that time for free. Boarding passes can be printed out at home when you check in for your flight at the 24 hour mark.

Will your DH be dropping you off at the airport. If so he will be able to help you get organized and through to security.

With children the age of yours you will be able to pre-board and get the girls settled before the onslaught of other flyers. One of your girls (or two together) will need to sit on her own so you may want to pay and pick your seats. Have two girls and yourself in one row and your oldest daughter across the aisle from you would be my suggestion.

I was just speaking with someone from WestJet. She told me that seat selection isn't something you have to do at the time of your purchase. You can watch your flight over time and if it looks like the flight is filling up, then go ahead and book your seats. They seem very amenable to helping out customers on their phone line, too. I do know their seat selection seems to be more expensive than Air Canada, depending on where you're going.
