Do you have to call? When I try to do it online I get a message saying...

Warning
Currently, Walt Disney World® Resort reservations are only available for check-in dates up to and including December 31, 2009. Please modify your travel dates accordingly.:confused3

You can book room only over the phone for 2010 and have to wait til Aug to make it a package with your tix. Rates for 2010 arent out until Aug.

Packages for 2010 cannot be booked online or over the phone.

Room only reservations for 2010 cannot be booked online, however, they can be booked on the phone. But there's some things you may want to know before you decide to book.

1.) The space at the resort is guaranteed - the rate is not. You'll most likely get the same rate right now that you'd pay if you stayed over Christmas. (ie: the highest rates). Once the 2010 rates are released, your price will be modified. Your total may go down, or it may go up, and you may owe more money on the deposit.

2.) If you book room only, you can't just "convert" to a package. Disney would have to, first, book you a package reservation and take a new $200 deposit. They would then cancel your room only reservation and refund the deposit. They can't transfer money between packages and room only reservations.

Is there a benefit to booking a room for feb now? I am a value person so I presume there won't be an issue with getting a room when a deal comes out, so is it more for deluxe and mods people want to book?

Seems to me the fewer rooms booked the better the deal!

It's always been my experience that the values and moderates are the ones to book up first.

Having said that though, if you're looking for a package, I definitely wouldn't book now. If you book a room only, you'd just have to cancel it and rebook it as a package.

For room only reservations, I don't think it matters. You wouldn't have to pay as much on the deposit (unless you're going for Christmas or Easter of 2010...), and the space will most likely be there anyway.

Just my humble opinion! :)
