Booking.. do i need to borrow points in advance?

Hi.. I would like to know please if at the moment of booking a trip that requires a larger amount of points than my current UY I should Have borrowed the points before trying to book? Or at the moment of booking the system does it automatically?

I am thinking on booking a very high demand week (First time on dvc), so I would like to be as efficient as possible at the booking ..

Any additional tips?
I read for example that I could just put myself in the reservation and later on add the other guests.. is it true?

Borrowing can be done only at the same time as making the reservation, and is done when choosing contracts after you have initially locked in the reservation-- you go to a page to choose contract(s) to use, and if not enough points, the borrowing box lights up on that page and you then choose to borrow points by clicking on that borrow box. It is banking that needs to be done before doing the reservation. And yes, you can do a reservation with just your name and then modify later to add others when you have a lot of guests.
