Hello,
Has anyone done this before? We would like to go to Disneyland and want to use point. Nothing is available at the Grand Californian, so I was thinking of booking the Disneyland Paradise Pier. The room points are the same as the deluxe studio. I assume the hotel is not as nice, but I can't come up with another idea. If my wait-list doesn't come thru, I don't have a back up plan.
I would really appreciate your input. I notice there is no $95.00 charge fee....

Thank you all for your help

Yes, I've done that in the past. The other locations are hotel rooms so you're aware of that and as you mentioned there isn't a $95 fee. But I am a little surprised it's the same number of points? And it will all depend on if the PP rooms are available to book on points - there is a limit on the allocation. You also have to have qualified points to book the hotel room - so not resale since March 2011.

Thank you,
yes I am aware it is the hotel room-figured it's the best I can do, don't have enough points for a bedroom villa, since we are spending two weeks prior in Hawaii and most of our point are going toward that. Our contract is not resale, so I guess we are good there :) For the time we are going the deluxe Studio is 26 point and the hotel room 27, so not much difference. I was also wondering should I hold on to my wait-list for deluxe studio? Will I be able to cancel the room if the wait-list comes thru...Sorry for all the questions. Pretty new at this

We stayed 4 nights at the Paradise Pier this past September, 2015. Cost was 100 points for the hotel room. With the hotel room, we had two queen beds, rather than a sleeper sofa.

It was an enjoyable stay--the hotel is brightly decorated, and we were on the same floor as the pool. We were able to walk across the front, then cross at the light to get to the Grand Californian, and go through there to California Adventure or out to Downtown Disney. By crossing the parking lot on the Paradise Pier side of the street, we could get to the other end of Downtown Disney--where the Earl of Sandwich shop is, and (if they had not been down due to the heat) could have ridden the monorail into Disneyland.

Enjoy your trip!

Once you booked at Paradise Pier those point become reservation points and cannot be used for a DVC stay, so no, don't bother keeping a waitlist. You will have the option to cancel the room if that became necessary - It used to be 5 or maybe 7 days out I think but I haven't checked on what the policy is for awhile. But if you cancel the points will be reservation points and will be restricted to using outside of DVC and if you don't use them before the end of the UY they will expire.

I didn't know about that. Good to know, thanks! I filled in a reservation request, but it takes couple of days to hear back. So if I do get I will just cancel the waitlist.

Great information, thank you very much! This will be our first trip to Disneyland, so we are all pretty excited!

I have stayed at all 3 Disney hotels at DL, including VGC. I like Paradise Pier very much. I sometimes spring for the upper level theme park view, it is incredible.

Take the short cut to the parks thru the Grand Californinan lobby.
