we are now planning our next trip to dlrp. We are going to be going on 16th or 17th september for the week we have managed to get very cheap flights only £340 return for 6 of us from edinburgh.

But my question is what is booking directly with disnland directly like?? Am really worried as we have always booked via a travel agent but having hunted around its so much cheaper to book it ourselfs and this year we are also taking my in-laws with us.

Ive managed to get a quote of £1200 for two double rooms with B&B and park passes for 8 days is this good ??? its with disneyland themselfs. Also how does paying it work the lady on the phone said they only took a deposit and then the outstanding nearer the time is this right ?? as online they wanted it paid in full upfront but it wouldnt take my card ?!

Also do you think a week is too long or do you think it will be ok with plenty to do we have only ever done 4/5 days before.

Also does anyone have any other tips for booking it yourself that i may need to know?

Sorry for all the q's just a bit nervous about booking it all myself for the first time.

I would price the same date and hotel for room only.
I would then check the price for annual passes, as I found that these worked out cheaper than a 5 day pass into the park.
You also have plenty of time if you wanted to get the discounts that you get when you become a shareholder, and get discounts of the passes and also 10% of the room only rate. It will also give you 15% of restaurant bills and disney shop merchandise.

We went for a week and had a great time with plenty to do.
We also saved hundreds combined on room discount, annual pass discounts, the restaurants, and the shops.

When we've stayed onsite we've always booked direct with Disney. When you book by phone its right you only pay a deposit then they will tell you when the balance is due but booking online you have to pay the full amount.

Somone has suggested checking room only prices and then getting an Annual pass- it probably would work out cheaper this way but it almost impossible to book room only or even get a quote without already having an AP so you may need to do what we did and stay off site - we stayed at Holiday Inn- and then buy APs there.

The discount I was referring to was the shareholders discount of 10 % off.
Becoming a shareholder and joining the club was something which I managed to do in 1 week, with the help of a fax machine and printer :goodvibes

I was able to get 10% off room only for our trip in May plus the discount in restaurants and shops was better at 15%

If you are a shareholder, you could also get 10% of the package price. Having said that as the Euro is getting worse, it will cost a fair bit to buy the shares.

Having said that £1200 for 8 days is a good price.

I think 5/6 days would even be enough time even with young children. If your staying on site you will have the advantage of EMH plus most if not all the schools will be back so the parks will be quieter.

I have always booked the trip ourselves after going to a TA and got a quote of 3 times more then what we eventually paid!!

A week would be a great time for both parks :)

We have always found it cheaper to book direct :)
