Booking direct vs. DU"

I had booked my room for the May repo online in the wee hours here in California and got a Cat5 room right where I wanted it - room 75xx guaranteed. After all the discussion of the DU bookings and the $300 OBC - I thought I would inquire if I could do better. Hey $300 is a lot of drinks for me or arcade cards for the DS.

Well I must have booked early enough because I got the room for $8109 and now it is $8509 so the $300 OPC would still cost me more.

Just wanted to share my experience with others. I know it was crazy on 1/31. Our local travel agency brought in everyone and most were on hold for 2 hours... I set my alarm, sat up in bed, turned on my laptop and seem to have done well.

I hope to make acquaintances with folks before I go... if anyone has sons that will be around 14 on this trip - my son would love to email with some pals before we go! We are just Mom and son traveling.

The long wait will be killing us!!

We had a TA at DU look at the Western we are taking - I went online and priced it for us. When we got her offer, it was just enought higher than DCL to cover our shipboard credit for all 3 cabins, so I made DCL ressies directly. I know some people get good deals from DU and they were pretty caught up in doing the Repos and Riveria, so it could just be the craziness of the day.

As for meeting people, look for a thread under Cruise Meets with your sail dates - I'll bet there are some nice people already meeting each other there! Happy Sailing!
