Booking Dec. 2017 trip question...

We are planning another trip in December 2017. We will have 4 rooms at a value resort(we haven't decided which one yet.)

My question is: Can we go ahead a book our rooms now and start making payments and then add the free dining (if available for our dates) to the existing reservation? or, do we need to wait to see if free dining is announced(possibly in April by looking at the history) and then book?

If you book a package now and FD comes out and is available for your dates/resort, you can modify your existing reservation to reflect the FD discount. However, if you book RO and want to change to a package, the RO will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit (per room). Since RO and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. With all of that said, if you will go regardless of a discount, I'd book now to make sure you get the resort/room type you want. If your trip is dependent on a discount, it's best (IMO) to wait and see what (if any) discounts come out for your dates. Sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort and/or room type as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied.
