Prospective DVc member here - just wondering about how booking day by day works. I understand you can call 11 months before your check out day to book your home resort. Now if you do this day by day to guarantee a busy time of year, do you wind up with a different reseravtion for each day, or to they add the days onto the first one?

I've booked day by day several times. The CMs didn't seem to mind at all. If you tell MS what you are doing, you will end up with one reservation number and one confirmation letter. MS makes a note on the ressie the first day so that the confirmation is held until you have reserved all the days.

We only find this necessary to do when we are reserving a GV, and then we don't if it is for a slow season.

I do this for Spring Break time. Maybe not necessary, but I am a worrier. The cm's will ask "is this your last day" and when you finally say "yes" they close out the reservation and send out your letter.

I called day by day for my ressie coming up in December. Not only because we're going for the holidays, but because I was aiming for those elusive standard BWV's. I never would have gotten a standard unit for Christmas week if I'd waited until 11 mo. from my final checkout date. Thankfully it worked out, and the CM's were great as I called each day. :D

Last year we wanted a 1 bed preferred view for the first week in Dec and I left it until our check out date and couldn't get the dates we wanted! This year we are going in Nov and we're going for the elusive standard views so I'll definitely be calling day by day!

Wanting a BWV std. view, I'd planned on calling day-by-day for our upcoming December trip. I forgot to call the first few days. When I did call, the CM actually recommended that I call day-by-day (obviously not upset by the prospect) and asked what our last day would be. It was noted on our ressie and when I finally had all the nights, then our confirmation letter was sent out.

I personally wouldn't call day after day. I wait until the day I can call to reserve my entire trip. If I get what I request, wonderful, if not, that is fine too. It is just not worth my time to do it any other way. But like everything, it is a personal decision.

Have a great trip

For a GV during busy DVC seasons, every day for the first two or three days, then ask how many are free, if there are ten or more free for yesterday's date, I will wait till the end to finish booking.

We went for a 2 br at Hilton Head for Easter vacation at the 7 month window. We asked the CM at member services and she suggested we go day by day. By the fourth day (of five) we had 3 of the days, then on the fifth day the waitlist came through for the missing day and we were all set.
