Honest question, has anyone ever gotten a family cabana at midnight when the booking link opens? I am a platinum cruiser and after last night, I honestly feel like giving up hope on even trying to get a cabana. I am checking in here to see if anyone has ever gotten a family cabana while not sailing concierge.

Any tips on getting a cabana, aside from booking concierge, would be very welcomed.

Thanks everyone!

We got one, once. Dec 2021. We were only silver, and 2 or 3 Cabanas popped open about a week before the cruise. We have been on 7 cruises now, that only happened that one time.
I don't know if they came open because of cancellations or I have heard DCL keeps some for last minute VIP's that they will release right before the cruise.

If they fill before you can book them, best course is to just keep checking for openings. It's not unusual for people to book things "just in case" and then cancel them just prior to the cruise (before they get charged for it). Check at random times, not the same time every day.

You can also check once onboard to be added to the waitlist if they have one going for your specific cruise.

Also depends on the ship. If it’s the Wish, forget it. I’ve never snagged one and have been on 30 Disney cruises. Getting ready to try again Next week. not feeling lucky though. We’re on the fantasy july southern cruise. My family wants it, I could care less. Plus I need to book Palo for them. All three cabins are platinum and Pearl, but Pearl perks don't start until May 1. That may help a tiny bit on future cruises. We’ll see

Why are these cabanas soo popular when there so expensive

what’s the big draw to them, I guess it’s a nicer seating area etc but Im amazed how popular they are considering how much they are

We somehow snagged the grand family beach cabana when our booking window opened, this was back in 2019 (gold status). We ended up sharing it with another family, which worked out great. They’re pricey for sure, but also a really nice way to spend the day on the island. We’re sailing on the Wish first week of July and I’m not even going to bother trying to get one as I hear they’re so hard to come by now, especially for that ship.

Not likely to happen, I would check every day multiple times a day. Join your cruise FB group. Occasionally people will say hey I'm about to cancel this, get ready to book if you missed out. I've never seen it for a cabana but I have seen it for other hot reservations.

If you're sailing the Wish I wouldn't count on it but its worth a try!

For my family we added up the cost of everything. Like we are a group of 10. We will be spending about $400 on bike, snorkel and float rentals. The cabana is roughly $799 from what I've been looking at pricing. So the way I'm looking at it is the price is really $399 since I already was spending $400 and bikes/snorkel/ floats are included in the cost of the cabana. Now I'm not holding my breath over here to get it as I'm still Silver Castaway and the cruise I'm referring to is on the Wish so not likely at all.

Ditch the kids? HAHA!

I've gotten a Serenity Bay cabana once (and one was available another time but I didn't get it as I was solo that trip and it seemed ridiculous to get it just for one person). Both of those at Gold check-in times. That is definitely an advantage of being an adult-only party - we're not restricted to family beach ones.

It's definitely not worth it if, like us, you don't spend a lot of time there. If you do, it's down to personal preference and situation and then whether you're willing to pay the price. We'd rather spend that money on dining at Remy but we also only spend about 1-2 hours maximum on CC including lunchtime and any excursions, assuming we even get off which we don't always. So there's no value in it for us and we probably wouldn't take much advantage of it even it we got it for free :P .

I also sailed December 2021 and could have had one if I wanted one. (I didn’t.)

The cruise only had 40% capacity though so much more availability.

This platinum cruiser missed out on booking a cabana for our March Dream sailing. I checked the app for one to come available almost every day, multiple times a day, for four months. I added my name to the wait list at guest services as soon as I boarded (boarding group 3). It never came though. I'll try again next time.
