Booking Cash at Aulani while waiting for 7 months

We are planning a vacation in late July / August at Aulani. We want to book our flights but have to wait for the 7 month mark. Our thought was to book cash so we could guarantee our dates and then book with points at 7 months. Has anyone else done this?

Cash reservations cannot be converted to points reservations because they are different inventory. What you would ultimately do is book on points if what you needed was available for points and then cancel the cash reservation. Otherwise you would have two reservations.

Correct, I was wondering if anyone has dine this yet? Insm curious what the rates are. I think you only have to deposit the first night and they you have to 30 days out to finish paying or cancel. Does this sound correct?

I can't tell you the rates at Alunai, but we did just book some cash nights at Vero to ensure we'd have a room. We're going to do the same thing -- give a shot at changing to points at the 7 month mark. But since it's in late June, we're probably going to have to stay with the cash room.

We had to pay for the first night, and were told the balance would be paid at the resort.

You can get a CRO quote from the Alunai web site. If DVC-discounted rooms are available on your dates, I'm guessing it would be the same 25% discount as at other DVC resorts.
