Or any of the other uk brokers?

How do you know which actual car hire company you end up with? Does it matter? Are any dodgy?

I have always used a company where you choose which rental company you want to use.
So far I have used Dollar, Hertz, Budget and Alamo. Not a lot to choose between any of them. Best and one I use most is Dollar, Alamo I had a bad rental about 11 years ago but used them again at Easter no problem, Budget and Hertz older/higher milage cars.
All down to the rep and car you get on the day, I just used Hertz, got home and they had charged me £801 on my Credit card when I had prepaid, got email this morning to say they have refunded. Others have no problems with them, with Dollar I have found them almost faultless in 20+ rentals other won't use them.

If you post your dates, airport, car size and best price you have I will search for a better price if you want.

Not used either but I know others have used Carhire3000, Argus doesn't get much mention, I almost used them this year til I found better deals elswhere.

Only had a quick look (busy at work) best deal looks to be with Netflights.com, used them many many times (more than anyone else) now owned by Thomas Cook.
SUV for 14 nights = £272 less 5% http://www.quidco.com/netflights/?ac
Total cost £258.

If you want tank of gas and additional driver included it would be £70(less 5%) more.

Anyone ever used carhire3000 or argus car hire?

Yes I used Carhire3000 for my - then 22 year old son and his friend, to have their own car out there last year....couldnt fault them to be honest, didnt want to be paying anything on the other side of the pond, and I didnt....
Remember they were 22 years old, so we were paying over the odds for the under 25 year old driver anyway, so to pay more when arriving and tired was not what I wanted.....they got their car through Alamo, was impressed!!

Hey Wayne,

I think I found the one on Netflights for £272. Trouble is when you click on it it says £326.40.

Am I missing something here?

Looks like am error and it should be £326, they used to sell Thrifty cheaper than Dollar but they look very similar prices now (no idea why they were cheaper as Thifty and Dollar are same company)
Maybe your find with Carhire 3000 is the best then now.

I have just booked with carhire3000 paid £234 for a compact with addtional drivers/ airport collection all insurance and you bring back the car empty so first tank of fuel is included , to get this deal I phond them to ask them if they had any deals on usa carhire as this deal was not avalible on the site .

Thanks. Might ring them as well then...

Are thrifty OK? (not sure if the name inspires confidence !!!)

Never booked with them before but they're same as dollar arent they?

Do they use the same cars or is there a decent dollar line and a dodgy thrifty pile ?????

Rented from Dollar at Easter, being Dollar Express member I went straight out to the kiosk, Dollar window was busy so the member of staff took me to the Thrifty window, its all one office, same staff, same cars as far as I know.
Don't think it would make economic sense to run 2 fleets of cars right next to each other.

Apologies, hijacking your thread here

Wayne, any chance you can look it up for me too
27 October to 11 November
MCO to Cape Canaveral
Cheapest model is fine for us (but we do want 1 additional driver)
Best I can find so far is £251 with USrentacar

:)

Can't find anything better, Alamo/Brits guide have a good rate at £226 + possible 10% Quidco (with additional driver) but they don't have a location near the port so for a 1 way rental you look to have the best deal.

Thanks! I did look around quite a bit myself too and could also find a rate around £225, but only with one driver. But you often find some pretty good deals so thought I'd ask. ;) And although DH usually does all the driving, it's nice to know that I can take over if needed. Paying on site for an extra driver usually is quite expensive, so will go with the USrentacar.
