this is the first trip I plan on doing it. My girls will be 3/5 (almost 4/6).

How do I book it? Call at 180 days? Assuming I’ll be on hold forever? Also what is the likelihood of getting a 9am or so on the second day of our trip?

Is it a waste to do it towards the end on our trip? Second option would be the third day in the late afternoon before happily ever after.

Thoughts? Advice? Tips? Thanks!

Call at 180 days. When I have called first thing at 180 days, I have never had trouble getting the time I wanted. You might be on hold a while though.

I would do it earlier in the day and then go visit some Princesses and take some pictures. DD never liked to keep the hairstyle in overnight-- she wanted it out and all the goop washed out of her hair before she went to bed. They have changed the hairstyles to be looser now too (which I think is a good thing- as I can remember when DD was 3 having to take her BBB princess bun down in MK about 3 hours after her visit because she said it hurt), and reports are that those won't stay in for days like the old styles. So, I don't think it matters what day you do it--- just that you have enough time for them to walk around and get all the attention from CMs, other guests, and Princesses and get lots of pictures.

My DD absolutely loved it when she was little- and she is not a kid that liked to have her hair done or styled in general. She loved all the attention at the BBB, and the attention that she got after as we went around the parks.

We called in at 180 days to make BBB reservations for 2 days before Thanksgiving (3rd day of our stay). The wait time was around 10 minutes, so not too bad considering the Thanksgiving Holiday. Ours is for 1:50PM since we planned to sleep in that day. Our girls (DD6 & DD4) are already super excited.

I think timing wise, you know your kiddos better. My girls tend to wear down a bit towards the end of the trip, so we try and slow things down a bit as we go.
