Since there are a lot of people saying that they cannot find anything for Dec 08 and this includes me, I was wondering if anybody has booked beyond Thanksgiving 08. I just called and had no problem getting a Preferred site for June of 08 but not Dec 08.

Welcome to the insanity of trying to book around the holidays! I havent got what I want yet either....try, try, try, again:headache:

Well, you can only book up to Dec 08, at least online. It's only 500 days out that you can book now, so it's probably around the same if you call. So at this point I don't think anyone is booking beyond 08.

There is still a lot of availability for next year, it's just now with the 500 day out rule holiday spots fill up quicker and earlier.

I posted beyond Thanksgiving 08, when I called yesterday the CM could not tell if they had released preferred and full sites for Dec 08.

The site for online reservations shows that Disney is accepting reservations (online at least) up until Dec 08. I don't know if that means including December or not, from the sounds of it though, doesn't seem like it.

I've been trying everyday for several weeks now to book a preferred or full hook-up for December 08 online and the only sites available are partials. Hopefully they will release them soon.

Hello fellow Fort fans. I have checked online daily for weeks trying to get a full or preferred site for Dec 6 - Dec 20 2008. I have tried various combinations of days. I did get one day full hookup for Dec 17 '08. I know a few other folks on this board have had some success too. A CR guy who seemed to know his stuff with confidence did tell me that the sites are released only a few at a time this far out. He said that this practice is unique to the Fort because of the limited number of sites. This is an attempt to give the average person a chance, because otherwise the entire Fort would be booked throughout the winter months by snowbirds. He said anyone can book a site for up to 30 days, and anouther 30 days, and so on. With 500 days to plan ahead and with the increasing popularity of the fort, Folks reserving a site for 30 days can quickly fill up the entire resort. The 500 day out rule is for your check-in day only, not your entire stay. So a person can call 500 days from , say, Nov 15 and get a 30 day reservation, now he got a jump on everyone who is trying to call 500 days from Dec 7. The point is, the 30 day reservations and the increased popularity of the Fort not just the holidays but also the winter months in general, have made it it very difficult to get a site, lots of competition. It is frustrating knowing we have to keep trying daily, but i guess slowly releasing the sites does give us all a chance and not just the extended stay campers. The guy did say that the orders come down from the business office and they won't know untill it happens. Just for chuckles, yesterday I searched online for Dec of this year and found full hookup site available for 3 days midweek around the 15th. Obviously if more sites are available at this time for this Dec '07 and hardly anything except some popup sites for Dec '08, the best explaination is the sites for '08 are being held back but all sites have been released for Dec '07. The CR guy told me not to worry about it, plenty of sites have not been released yet, and to just keep checking everyday. Good luck to everyone, be cool, and be persistant checking everyday.:surfweb:

When were you able to get the 17th??? We got the 16th on Sep. 4th but have been unable to get the 17th. We have checked online daily, morning, noon and night and nothing....Just curious.

How were either of you able to get those dates? I've been checking everyday, different times of the day, since rates were released back in August.:confused3 The only availability I've found is for partial sites.

We started calling August 1st, all day, everyday but was unable to get anything until the 5th and we got 2 nights 13-15th. Even then early morning we were told "unavailable" and then my brother-in-law got through and somehow got us both in those nights. Then on the 6th, we got the 15-16th and then everything haulted until Sep. 4th and I got another night, 16-17th and have been unsuccessful since then. I haven't been calling as much as I used too. I keep check on the computer now and when it opens then I call. Now the night of the 16th, I had to book online, couldn't get it through CR. :confused3

Don't give up, keep trying. When they open up again, you should be able to get in and you may have to piece the days together.:)

I got the one day, dec 17 '08, on sunday afternoon aug 6th (online). I don't know how but I did. Then, i called and had the great conversation with the cr guy i spoke about earlier. He did seam a little surprised about the one day being open, but i did get the e-mail confirmation. Like i said earlier, i tryed online for one day at a time from Nov 30- Dec 20, and the 17th showed up for full hookup. I think a few sites were released earlier, were snatched up, all except my one day that i got. I know its practically worthless by itself, but getting even that one day kind of cheered us up.

I call getting a day here and there building blocks. I've done it before several times. You will get your days. Just be patient.

Have you tried booking the whole month? I have found that if I put in for a much longer time than I really need, there is more availability. So I book the 18 nights or whatever, and then call back and cancel all the nights except for the ones I want. That is what I had to do for Tday 08. I have 18 nights booked, put my one nights deposit down and now I need to call back and cancel the nights I don't want. I have been doing this a lot lately. To me if shows that Disney is catering to the snowbirds and doesn't like us locals who just come for long weekends or whatever. But that is fine, I can play games too!!:rotfl2:

That's one of the last best kept secrets!! Shh people, don't spread that one around too much!! ;)

I have been trying that for the last month or so, I only come up with tent/pop-up sites. Sometimes they disappear to and then nothing but cabins.

Not that I have anything against snowbirds but I agree with another thread that us families trying to get in for a week has been difficult. I do know that the time of year we are going is difficult anyways. But I didn't expect this long of a delay with the 500 day rule. But if it is true of opening campsites a little at a time then so be it and maybe the FAMILIES will rule.:goodvibes
