Good Afternoon!

I know that when I was going to DW two years ago, this topic was discussed, but I can't seem to find it now. We are looking to go to DW in early September and history seems to indicate that some type of Free Dining or Room Discount will be offered during that time. However, they typically aren't released until late April, well after the 180 day dining reservation booking window. My question is, if I book 180 days out to get the early dining reservations and then a discount is released in April, do I lose my dining reservations if I call back to get the discount?

If this is answered, somewhere else, please point me in the right direction. Thank you for your help!

I know I have booked a room, made my reservations and then changed it all around when discounts came open ....

That said, I've never done it during free dining.

Brian - Thanks for responding so quickly. Did you have to rebook your dining reservations when you added the discount? I thought when they gave you the discount, they changed your reservation number and thus you lost the dining reservations you already booked.

Start booking your reservations at 180 days. If you don't have a resort reservation you'll have to book one day at a time. Your ADR's will be fine, even if you book/cancel a million times in April as you try to book your perfect FD room. Your ADR's are not tied to your resort stay.

If you book a room only reservation, you would have to cancel that reservation and book a package reservation. They are different systems. It's a minor hassle.

I was wondering the same thing. So if we have a package deal that includes room, tickets and dining, then we can still keep our dining reservations even after we change to "free dining" discount?

Your dining reservations are tied to you, not your room reservation. You can stay off property and have dining reservations.

If you book a room only reservations, you will get a new reservation number when you re-book to a package and cancel your room only reservation but it won't affect your ADRs.

If you book a package originally and then apply a newly announced promotion price, you should retain your original reservation number.

The only way dining is tied to reservations is in the fact that if you don't have a reservation, you can only book 180 days out, which means you would have to either book one meal each day 180 days before that meal or wait until you are 180 days out from your last day and book it all at once.

If you have a ten day resort stay booked, they on 180 days from your first day, you can book all ten days.

If you are trying to get into one of the high demand places, you would really need a reservation booked but if you just want one of the other restaurants, you can still find reservations much later (even same day for some). I just booked dining for a new client and he is traveling in 45 days. he got most of what he wanted but he wasn't trying for princess meals.
