Booking Banking Borrowing - Am I right?

On a whim, I'm hoping to book a short vacation later this summer. I'm planning to call this morning. Unfortunately, I don't have enough points, as in, I am 60 points shy. My use year is December and I have 0 2014 points and 45 2015 points because I have a week long trip booked for the spring. What I was planning to do was call Member Services at 9 and cancel the first 2 nights of the spring trip, which with my 45 points will be enough for my upcoming trip with 30 points to spare. Then, I was going to use those 30 points plus borrow from 2016 to rebook those first 2 nights of the spring trip (there is availability online). Will that work or am I missing something? I haven't had to bank/borrow before.

If your Use Year allotment of 2015 points starts December 1, 2015 and by 'spring' you mean sometime in 2016, then I think you are correct. If you are calling and not doing it online, you can verify with Member Services before you start, but it sounds right to me (assuming you are, right this minute, in your 2014 use year.)

An update - so easy!!! I didn't have to cancel anything. The member services rep took care of everything in one transaction. Yayyy!!! I'm going to Disney World in a month!!!!!

Yea...just saw your post, but MS is able to reallocate "which points(use year or dvc contract)" are used on a vacation without canceling any reservations. Glad it worked out for you...Have Fun!
