booking at home resort then moving booking?

We want to go to WDW next June and stay at BCV.

Our home resort is OKW.

Am I right in thinking I can book a villa at OKW at the 11month window (ie this month) and then move it to BCV (availability permitting) at the 7 month window - or will they put my points in a holding account and I wont be able to make this change?

That's right, we did that this year. Booked a similar size accommodation at OKW to the one we wanted to change to then called at 7 months to switch with no problem. If you are calling day by day you just tell MS what you are doing on day one and they transfer the days booking each time you call. If there are any extra points required they take these as you go. It's very straight forward

Yup, it's common practice, and has always worked for us.

It's nice to know that you have a guaranteed accommodation at your home resort, and that this can (usually) be adjusted at the seven month window.

... and the fact that you're planning to go (presumably) from fewer points for your OKW ressie to more points for the BCV ressie means you won't have any potential problems if you need to borrow for the initial reservation
(it can get more complicated if you initially book using more points and need to borrow some of those, then want to switch to a ressie with fewer points but can't return the borrowed points to their original use year )
