Booking at 6 months out?

I just joined DVC at BLT last week and am looking to book my first trip. Here's the deal: I am a Toronto Blue Jays season ticket holder and every year they give me two free plane tickets to Tampa for Spring Training and tickets to a specific game which includes a "meet the players BBQ" after the game. The game is almost always the first Saturday of spring training. My use year is Feb and I am planning to book a week at BLT from Feb. 27 to Mar. 6. My problem is that they don't come out with the actual spring training schedule until early September. I have 270 points and originally thought about booking this year's points for that week, and next year's points for the week after, and then cancelling the week I didin't need since it would be at the 6 month out period. Would that work?

If not, my other option is to book the week I think will make sense and then have to cancel and book elsewhere at 6 months. How likely am I to find something at 6 months for the last week of Feb/first week of March and preferably at BLT since I have three very young kids who will hang out almost exclusively at MK? Advice?

The end of February and March begin the Spring break season for many so it might be difficult to get exactly what you want.

Since you have a Feb UY, you will already be in your Feb 2010 UY when you travel. If you are not planning to go before then, just bank your 2009 points.

You would then be able to book both weeks (using your banked 2009 points and the 2010 points) and cancel the one out that you don't need.

I think, since you will be using BLT points for both reservations, that MS would be able to make sure that the banked points get used for the week that you end up keeping.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. So I guess my brainstorm has me thinking that I book two weeks total overlapping as much as the period I think it will be and just cancel 7 days. I presume it doesn't matter if I cancel three days before and 4 days after, and insofar as the points are concerned I just ensure that they cancel the 2010 points. Or do I have to say which year points I am using for each specific day/week?
