Booking April 2011 car

Yes! What are your dates & times for April, it makes a difference? What size car you looking for?

Those dates will be high right now. Need to wait for some coupons/codes to come out for that time period. Easter time! The few out now aren't that great. My dates are earlier and for 10 days. I'm getting $22/$23 per day with tax. Economy/compact car. If we rent a car I'll be doing Priceline Name your price starting at probably $18/$19 or midsize (fit better) starting at $20/$21. I've always had good luck and it's fun to see if I can get a deal. We've always ended up with Alamo.

Hint: More days is less.

I'm confused. You've got one thread saying you're getting a rate of $30 (a day?), and another saying you're getting a rate of $300 for five days.

alamo as alamo has the besst rates. i'm getting that price for alamo for just a few days! of course I'm not taking it, but it's REALLY not even competitive.

alamo for $23 a day? that's low

No. I would Name my price on Priceline and have always gotten Alamo in the past. The $23 I'm getting for my time frame is either Budget, or I believe Dollar rental car. I've used Budget before with no problem but I'd rather try and get cheaper on Priceline.

It's because you are looking to travel during the Easter time frame. That is a peak travel week for Disney. Since Disney raises its rates during that time, I'm sure that car rental agencies do also.

I'll be at WDW from April 13 to 21 (8 nights) and have a compact rental for $200 (including taxes). I started looking at rentals in June and have booked/canceled probably 10 times. I don't prepay for rentals so I can easily do this.

Keep searching and try searching at various times of a day (ex: don't always search in the evening). Also, my father swears that you need to clear your computer's cookies in-between searches. I start by searching without any discount codes to determine what the rack rate is. Then I start trying various discounts - I often find them to be more expensive than the rack rate.

i'm worried if i don't get it lower, we can't go! :(

Where did you get for $200 and which code if any? thanks i'm searching every day!

I just tried Budget with April 19 to the 25th with code X474200 and got $195 for a compact.

Search this forum for that code and you'll find its legit. 2 groups on our last trip used it. I had a full sized reserved on that code and canceled the day before we left as I got the deal I wanted (alamo /no counter) but the others used the code and all was well.

Keep in mind that I booked these in July. I have reservations with both Thrifty and Dollar for $185 (including taxes) for a compact. I also have a reservation with Thrifty for $200 (including taxes) for a midsize. Each reservation is for 8 nights, with one driver, and no code used for Thrifty. In my Dollar reservation it says Promo Code 622 - I don't remember what it was though. I know that Thrifty and Dollar are essentially the same company. The deciding factor will be whether or not I get to choose a car myself. I rented with Budget last summer and didn't like that I was assigned a car. DH and I will likely not be getting the midsize car since it is just the two of us.

Again, I think because your travel dates include Easter, you will likely find some high rates. Have you looked into airfare during that time frame? To me, that would be more of a budget killer than a car rental. IF you are looking to stay on-site, you can take advantage of Magical Express and use Disney transportation to and from parks.

it's 195 plus taxes right?

What I posted were out the door prices (no additional insurance included). I just tried it again and it didn't work, not a surprise..... the code didn't always work when we tried it in the past, keep trying it.

I know this is no comfort at this point in your planning, but we have found last day deals on the last 5 or 6 trips we have taken. We do the same thing each time, we book a resi and check for last minute deals, then cancel to stay with a preferred company or for a better rate.

Thanks! That's so weird. I'll keep trying with that code. IF any one has other codes, DM or post and thanks to all.

What a great board!
:woohoo:
