Booking AP Discount

I am planning to buy an annual pass online next year and am wondering if I will be able to book a hotel room with an AP discount immediately after purchasing the pass online...? I realize that I will receive a voucher in the mail that will need to be activated at Guest Relations at one of the parks, so technically I won't be an Annual Passholder until the voucher is activated?

I read, however, that I can have the AP discount applied to my reservation when we arrive at the resort (if it can be applied), but only with an activated annual pass. So does this mean I have to visit Guest Relations before checking-in to the hotel?

This whole process is a bit confusing for me, so hopefully someone out there can help!

You can book it in advance of the AP being activated, and once it's activated just bring it to the front desk.

I just purchased annual passes for my daughter and I. And in the same call, we were able to book our trip with the AP discount.

Like kmb584 posted, you can actually book a room with an AP discount before you even purchase an AP. You will not be able to book it online, but you would just need to call in to make the reservation and then show your pass during check-in.

Do I still need to activate the annual pass before checking in to the hotel though? Or will they accept the voucher as proof upon check-in? We usually arrive by Magical Express so it would be a little bit inconvenient to get dropped off at the hotel and then have to go to a park before we could check-in and get the discount...

You don't. Present them with the voucher and then go back with the actual AP once you've activated it.

I have used the AP discount for years and never been asked to show my AP. My DD has used her military discount and never been asked for her military ID.

We didn't need to show them anything in June when checking in with the AP rate. I suppose they could easily see that in MDE we had AP's linked (although not yet activated) when we checked in. You'll want to purchase them at least 60 days before your arrival date and link them into MDE if you want to make FP for the length of your resort stay. Otherwise, the AP entities you to make some FP for only up to 30 days into the future from the current date.

Thanks for answering all my questions! Very excited to become Annual Passholders!
