Booking another resort at seven month mark???

Quick question...I just booked at seven-month mark for Vero Beach which is not our home resort. I was only able to book for seven nights. Is this because I had to borrow points, we have an August Use Year (technically we get our points on Monday). On Monday, we will have the additional points available to book the additional date.

Can I add on an extra night on Monday?

It is always just 7 nights if booking exactly at the 11 or 7 month window. You can add more nights after that.

Just adding: the fact that your next use year begins Aug 1 does not mean you have to wait until Monday to add a night. You can add that night today via a modification of the current reservation after 8 a.m. eastern.

Also, in determining whether you need to bank or can borrow points, you ignore the date you make the reservation and look only to the dates you will be a WDW. Your trip will take place in your Aug 2022 use year (sometime in Feb to March 2023) that runs from Aug 1, 2022 to July 31, 2023. Thus, your Aug 2022 use year points are the "current" use year points for that trip and, even if making (or modifying) the reservation today, you can use Aug 2022 use year points for that trip and borrow points from your Aug 2023 use year when doing the reservation or modifcation.

When the 7 month window opens you can make a reservation starting exactly 7 months away plus 7 nights. You weren’t able to book 8 nights yesterday because that 8th night is beyond the +7 nights allowed. Today that 8th night has rolled into the +7 nights window allowed, so you can book it, but if you wanted a 9th night you’d have to wait until tomorrow to book it when it was 7 months + 7 nights away.
11 months at your home resort works the same way.

You don’t “technically” get any points on Monday. Points are in their use year waiting for reservations to be made in the use year time period. I’d say that the points that you said you are receiving on Monday have been available to book reservations between aug 1,2022 and July 31, 2023 for a long time.

Points aren’t available @ the 7 or 11 month mark, that is when you are allowed to make a reservation.

The way I’ve always understood it you should have been able to add that 8th night already, but I just tried a mock booking & couldn’t do it - I suspect because Feb. only has 28 days & the clock to open additional days in March won’t rollover until 8/1. I also tried a home resort 11 month booking for 8 nights for June 30th into July, which because it’s 7/31 I thought I could do - but no luck.
I suspect you’ll be able to get that 8th night tomorrow on 8/1.
