When I got my dh to agree to this trip, he gave me a flat amount that he is willing to pay for airfare/hotel/tickets; he is going to make the airline ressies, I'm supposed to do the rest (he's not anti-disney or anything, he just really doesn't care where we stay, what and where we eat, or what we do, as long as he gets a vacation away from work).

Going with the amuont he said, I have decided we will stay at a Value resort, because when I priced things on disney's website, I found that I could stay longer if I go with a value over a moderate, and I think I'd rather stay the extra night for almost the same price. Granted, these are rack-room rates, but that's what I have to go on for right now. Am I right in thinking that if I go ahead and book when the 2005 rates come out (we're going May 2005) for the value resort, and then if a code comes out, I can have that applied to my room? If the savings would be enough, could I upgrade to a moderate resort at that time, or am I stuck with the value? Would you upgrade if possible, or stick with the value?

How much do you rely on reviews to help with your choice? I had decided to stay at PC, but my now 3-yo ds saw me looking at pictures online of the resorts and discovered the Toy Story building at ASMo, and is determined that's where we're going to stay. I'm ok with ASMo, but almost everything I find about it is negative. Does anyone LIKE this resort? I don't want to disappoint my son (YES, he will still remember, everytime he goes past the computer he wants to see the pics again), he's the main reason we're going on this trip, but I don't want to stay somewhere horrible either.

Any help is appreciated!

I have stayed at the ASMo many times and your son will love it. It is a nice resort and many times has its own bus depending on the season. Yes if a discount came out you could use it and you could also apply it to a moderate...but why...stay where you can stay for the longest. The pools are fine and your son will love it and you will be getting you moneys worth. I would say stay at Pop Century but I really think for the under 7 age group they would like Movies better.
Really what do you do in the room anyway sleep and clean up...if your like most people you will be in the park most of the day.

I think Movies has a zero entry pool too. My dd loved staying in the Toy Story section..It was Andy's room.

If rooms are avail at mods for the discount, you could upgrade.
