Booking an extra nights accomodation due to late flight?

hi all,

Ive recently booked my flights from the UK for next summer, and I'm now returning to the UK very late at night (00:50am!) and I was wondering whether to book my DVC accomodation for an extra night, so that we aren't 'homeless' for most of our day.

Is there anything to stop me booking that final night and not actually sleeping in the room? (I guess we'd need to leave the hotel by 9pm).

No, nothing preventing that. If you have the points you can book it.

We often have a late flight and while I've never done it myself because we are usually in larger villas I do intend to do the same on our next studio stay.

Thank you for your replies :thumbsup2

Sadly the availability for my room is already really sketchy and the one day I'd need to add is already booked up. Ive never wait listed before, so can I just ask - can I waitlist the one night without it impacting on my existing reservation in any way? Would it automatically be linked to my existing booking if the waitlist came through? or is there a possibility that I'd be required to change rooms for the single night (making the booking pointless for the reasons I'm making it - ie to keep the room for the day!)?:confused3

Many thanks for any help :thumbsup2

Yes, you would waitlist just the one night. When you set up the waitlist there is an option to either replace a reservation, or not. You would select not.

I have not had a waitlist combined with an existing when it fills in quite awhile, although I have had it in the past, but if they do not combine when they fill it you would either call or email and ask to have it combined with your existing.

Thank you for replying. :thumbsup2

I think I might give the waitlist a try - doesn't sound as though ive got anything to lose by giving it a go! :thumbsup2

When our waitlist came through for an additional night, the reservations were automatically linked for us. It took a couple of days, but was a seamless process. (We didn't have to do a thing!) If you get the extra night and that does not occur, I'd call Member Services to make the request. They are typically very accommodating. Good luck!

Thank you ever so much :thumbsup2

Can I ask - how do you know whether the reservation is automatically linked? Is there some way of telling on the DVC member reservation page?

The dates will be extended from the original. If not combined then you'll have two reservations showing.

A few people have even indicated they've gotten new confirmations. I've had multiple waitlists fill and have had that happen once or maybe twice. Usually I just notice the waitlist is gone and there's a new reservation.

Who knows?

I've made separate reservations because plans changed, and they've been the same type of room same people etc, and I have had to call to have them put together. (one time they did something without me asking, but it was scary b/c all of a sudden my reservation number was GONE, and it was gone for a whole night's sleep until it showed up the next morning)

Once it's linked you will have ONE reservation number, not the two it might have started off with.

I wouldn't waste the points. If you check out in the morning at 11am, leaving bags at bell services and either hit the parks until 6pm, have dinner and then catching the magic express to the airport for 9:00. I don't think i would bother with keeping the room for the night. Even if you just wanted to hit the pool for the day you could and just pack a light bag to keep with you. Might be a good opportunity to pool hop that day or just go to Disney springs.

When you put it like that, you're right, perhaps I'll keep the points for 2018!! :goodvibes
