Just wondering, thinking of possible split stay for 1 night @ AKV/Concierge level in order to book the tour.

Couple questions:

*does it matter if i book the night prior to or the night the day of tour? Thinking it might be an issue of day of, as to checking in etc. so very early in the am?

*know it's very limited as to participants, has anyone had success in booking the tour?

There is more than one tour. Sunrise safari in the moring at AK with breakfast and then afternoon safari at the lodge with dinner at Jiko's afterwards. I've done both of them and they are great. You can check with concierge but I believe you can do the safaris if you are staying the night before or the night of the safaris.

thanks, didn't know about the later one, family would probably prefer that in lieu of such an early start:thumbsup2

The afternoon one has an age restriction for kids, although I'm not sure what that is. It is also expensive-$160 per adult. That's because it includes an excellent meal at Jiko's though.

For the evening safari, kids must be 8 or older. There's a reduced price for kids age 8 or 9. It's limited to 8 participants.

It's actually limited to 14 participants. There were 10 on the one we went on in December.

Is this only limited to concierge guest?? Wonder why smaller children can not attend. My DD is 6 so we need to wait 2 more years.

From what i understand it's concierge only, probably to accommodate the small # of slots they have available; and to add a certain cachet to it?;)

Anyone know the cost of the am tour? do you get breakfast @ Tusker House afterwards?
