We have booked our room only ressies and my parents mentioned going the same week now. Is it possible for them to make their reservation and request an adjoining room to ours or do I have to call and make another reservation??

Also, if my rate stays at the current rack rate I may switch to the dining package, would that affect the ability to get adjoining rooms? (or would I just have to mention it again when rebooking??).

if you want rooms that are just next to each other or close to each other, then ask to have their reservation and yours "linked together". That way, when rooms are assigned they will see that these 2 reservations want to be close to each other.

If what you want are rooms that have a door inside that you can open to go from room to room, then you don't want adjoining rooms, what you want to ask for is Connecting rooms.
I know adjoining sounds like they join together, but in "hotel language" it just means they are next to each other. Adjoining rooms can sometimes (depending on the hotel) even be across from each other.

I can't answer your other questions, but I've seen too many posts from people who were disappointed they got rooms next to each other, but "not adjoining", so I thought I'd help out with an explanation here.

You can add the requests to your existing reservation... just keep in mind that in Disney Lingo... Adjoining means that the rooms are side by side with no interior connecting door, you would have to go out into the hallway and enter through their door. Connecting means that you would have a door inside your rooms that connect them to each other.

Adding a package would not affect your requests. As long as you have the same room category as your parents ( Ie: standard, water, etc.) then all you need to do is make sure your reservation and hers are cross referenced with the same requests :)

thank you. I remember reading there were two different terms and couldn't remember which was which. Connecting rooms would be nice if the kids are sleeping but we'd be ok with rooms that are just next door to each other too. Once my mom books her room I'll make the changes, thanks!!!
