Booking a Room Only Online

I know you can book a room only on Disney's website, but is there an area that allows you to enter a discount code or a AAA discount or do you have to call them directly for that?

I do not believe that you can enter a AAA code on the disney web site. Need to call them to apply that. As far as other codes, if they are public discount codes that Disney is offering, there usually will be a link someplace on the web site to book the room using the code. There are rotating ads on the page and sometimes you need to wait for the ad to appear.
If the code is a pin code you have received, you would need to call to apply that.

You can book online for the AAA discount on their website. But to go through Disney reservations and see if it is available you must call CRO you cannot do it on the Disney website.

I have a AAA rate booked for December. I call Disney direct to book it since I didn't want a package. The CM was great, he gave me rates for 3 different resorts under the AAA discount to help me decided where to stay.
