Booking a Room Across Two Different Seasons

Please help if you have personal experience with this. We have scheduled a trip for DH's 30th birthday for April 16-23 at the WL (originally at the AKL). 4/16 is in peak season, and the rest of our trip is in regular season.

I currently am on a somewhat winter resort discount code, as I had to switch a reservation from the week prior at AKL to WL when a conflict with my husband's work reared it's ugly head. My TA was able to talk Disney into honoring a code for this new week, but we had to move our reservation to WL where there was availability.

My question - if Disney comes out with more codes soon, and I'm able to switch back to AKL as initially planned, is it best to book a one-night stay for 4/16, and then book the other 6 nights seperately, so we're not stuck with the different season's rates? Or, does it even matter if you have a code?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Even with a code you are still better to have 2 seperate ressies. We had to do this in Sept. The rate will be peak for your entire stay if it is peak on check in day. The code will have a different rate for peak and regular seasons. Therefore 2 ressies are the best way to go. You won't have to change rooms or anything just get new room keys for the second ressie. It is very painless and worth the money you will save.

tmli, thanks for the advice. Should I have my TA somehow note in both reservations that we're going to be doing this, or do I just talk to the front desk CM when I check in? Will I have to do down on my 2nd day (the day of the new reservation), and go through the check-out/check-in procedure again?

You should have your TA note the 2 reservations as "connecting reservations." We've done this twice with no problem. Technically, they can move you at the start of your new reservation. It appears, however, that people are usually accommodated. You will need to check-out and check-in. They even give you new key cards.

I'm not sure if I am answering this right BUT the code you are referring to was for check in's BY the 16th......even though the 16th was peak season...with the code you were getting better rates than the "regular" season at rack rate. Make sense? You need to keep the reservation checking in on the 16th to get the discounted rate for the entire time...if you check out on the 17th and check back in then you have to pay the rate that is offered for the 17th. I hope that is not too confusing! LOL
