Booking a reservation for less than actual attending

disneydancing..ive heard both ways.
as a party of 2, it is hard to get an adr sometimes. I heard if you book for 3, you would get a 4 top table. then when you check in you say the other person was ill.

yes, yes, I know that is "cheating". I didin't do it. but I heard it is ok, even from the CM making the adrs. I also heard, not, that once you get there, they will say all the tables for 2 are already reserved, and we can't sit 2 people at a table for 4.

however, our first trip to Le celleier, we booked an adr for 2, and we were sat at a 4top anyway!

We once went to Disney with my parents and made all our ADR's for a party of 4. At last minute my brother and his wife decided to join us and we were unable to change them to parties of 6. So my brother & his wife made party of 2 reservations at the same restaurants, similar times. The hostess was happy to merge our reservations so we could all sit together at every place we went to.

There is a big difference between doing that for a normal ADR and one that is pre-paid. It is much less likely a family will not show up to a meal for which they have already paid. Regular ADRs, sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you get turned away if you have more guests. Even for those, you don't always get so lucky.
