Ok, I'm particular. When I go down to WDW I stay on property, it's like a must for my family. I'm currently planning a trip for my gf and I and hopefully we will be staying in the Pop century resort from Jan 3rd - 10th.

My story: I visited the travel agent today, she was helpful (kind of short, she seemed surprised that a 23 year old was visiting a travel agent). I feel like I'm getting hosed though. This time of year is supposed to be the value season and she quoted it at about 103/night. Now this could be one of two things, either I'm getting stuck with the peak season rates at a value resort or the 2008 rates have taken a substantial jump. Overall, flight + hotel + tickets turned out to be over 1600. Do-able, but I have quoted better in my research.

I'm now coming to the boards, you all seem to get good rates while visiting (from what I have read) is there anyway to shift that rate a little lower, or should I be content with it and put a deposit down? I mean, don't you think I should be getting a lower rate on the hotel; especially since the time I'm planning for is traditionally a value/light season? Would you suggest expedia or travelocity over going to a travel agent? Or should I just book the resort, and try my luck at finding good flight prices?

I'm at the mercy of your input. I need to plan an affordable but magical trip.

Try going to the Disney website and getting a quote through them. Does sound a bit high!!

It is really easy. They have you go through steps to get exactly what you want, including airfare.

Good luck!
