Just found out we will be going to the World at the end of Jan. We would like to use DVC points. We are not particularly picky and would be happy with just about any resort. What is the likelihood there will be any resort to choose from? Would be just getting a room that is not in a dvc "villa" be a better possibility (newbie)?:confused3

Member Services is open, give them a call and ask what is available.

SSR, OKW and AKV are the largest resorts, so theoretically, they would be the most likely to have rooms availble. 1BRs tend to book up last so that is the most likely.

until you call MS, you never know, though. you should plan to be extremely flexible...

as long as you are not in the last 4 months of your use year, you can also ask if wdw hotel rooms are available for trade. just remember that there is a $95 trade-out fee (and another $95 fee every time you make changes to that reservation), and that if you cancel, your pts remain "reservation pts" and cannot be used in the DVC system.

edited to add: if you are not a DVC owner, your best bet is to contact david to see if he can do anything for you. many owners will not bother trying to rent at the last minute as there is usually little availability.

I just tried to get a studio at OKW for the last week in Jan (1/22-1/28) and had to waitlist but I could've had SSR for all 6 days. I was a little surprised at the lack of availability at OKW.

Edited:

I actually made a Kidani studio reservation for the week that auto-cancels if my wait list comes through.

It's all about the $$$ OKW is usually less points per night than SSR.

I've been able to get a one night stay the same day!! I was there on business my flight had issues and I was bumped to the next day. I called MS and got a room for that night! That was a nice perk!

So it can happen.

It does seem that in the last couple of years OKW availably has been harder to come by.
