If all nights are available on March 27, book the 7 nights and then at 9 a.m. the next day call and add the last night. (You cannot, as suggested above, book that last night online at 8 a.m. on March 28)
Why the 7 plus one is better. That last night you want can be filled in two ways: (a) an owner of the resort takes it; that is likely of low probability because when you are that close to seven months out, owners of a resort probably have already booked what they want for the W&D race weekend; (b) someone else booking 7 months out can take your night; If you go online at 8 a.m. on March 27 and book 7 nights, you successfully block out anyone booking after you at 7 months out starting March 28 from getting the room you have for that last night because they cannot book Oct 28 forward for the room you already have; in other words, having to book at 9 a.m. the next day to add your last night creates no disadvantage in relation to others booking 7 months out at 8 a.m. on March 28; however, your waiting to March 28 to book anything leaves you vulnerable to losing one or more of the nights you want by all those reserving on March 27 at 7 months out.
