I don’t know if this is the right place for this question, please move if need be. I’m fairly new at owning DVC. I’m also a planner, I plan as far in advance as I am able. We’re looking in a few years taking my family to AKL for a week in late Jan. What we’re wanting to do is get 3 standard view studios. I looked at points for next year, & if they stay similar I can probably make it work. My question is at 11 months will I have any trouble making 3 reservations? Also if helpful I only have 100 points. Any other tips for making the reservations is also appreciated.
TIA

You can only borrow 50% of the next year right now, and there’s no plan to remove that restriction. 100 points won’t go far on this plan.

if your group can fit in a 2BR, it’s slightly less points for a crazy luxurious room with a full kitchen and laundry.

You might get lucky if you walk it, like right now you can even book a value studio.

I see what you mean. I know it will be tight. But I am planning on banking and using the 50% borrowing. I am also prepared to buy one time use points. For personal reasons, 3 studios would work best for all families.

3 Standard View Studios at AKV in January should be quite easy to book....3 Value would be extremely difficult without walking all of them (and even that would be hard).

If you own at AKV I think getting 3 standard view studios at 11 months will be doable. You cannot buy those one time use points until 7 months, though. I’d also at least try for a value studio to stretch your points. If you own elsewhere, getting them at 7 months may be a bit harder, but not impossible.

Darn! I forgot about the 7 months. I do own at AKV. I can still make it work I think. I’ll just have to skip a trip.

FYI, you will get better answers if you say you want to “book” three studios at once. “Rent” usually means you want someone else to use their points to make a reservation for you, and I don’t think that’s what you have in mind.

Or keep an eye on the rental board here and maybe find someone you can rent a few AKV points from to transfer to you when the time comes - it’d likely be cheaper than what DVC charges & you can get them before your 11 months so that you have what you need :)

Yes, your right. That’s not what I meant. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

My family did 3 studios on our last trip. We loved having the privacy from each other. At WDW, we never cook or do laundry, so we have no need for the kitchen or washer/dryer. We love Jambo over Kidani, so getting the 3 studios allowed us to have 3 separate bathrooms, too. (Now, HHI is a different story. We do 2-BRs there because we hang out in the room more.)

In 2019, we were able to get 3 value studios for Thanksgiving Break. I was amazed. We did walk them for about a month. But, JETSDAD, I don't know if you remember, but I tried booking just one value studio for the next year, and it was a nightmare. I would have it and then get blocked. I would get it again and get blocked again. At that point, I said I would never try for one again. Well, I have one booked for four nights this coming February, but it was booked just a few months ago. Just happened to see it on the website and grabbed it. My point is if you want 3 values, it's possible, but be prepared for disappointment.

I agree to at least try for one value studio to reduce the number of points needed. It's worth a try, but also be prepared to get 3 standards if it doesn't work out.
