Booking 3 BR Villa at 7-month mark

I'm a long time DVC member at the Beach Club. We have a family of 6 and always rent a 2 BR villa at Beach Club at the 11 month point. Now that my kids are in college, we book the same week, 12/26-12/31. Next year, I was thinking of inviting my brother and his family (family of 4) to join us in Disney. I was thinking it would be fun to get a 3 bedroom grand villa (and Beach Club doesn't have 3 BRs). Given the popularity of the week after Christmas, what's the possibility of getting a 3BR villa at the 7 month point?

Probably not very good, as I think you already might know. You'd probably have to be strategic to get them 10-11 months out at that time of year. Never say never, but you'll probably want to have rooms booked and then be ready to change or waitlist at 7 months - just not sure what that would look like for you, though. The GVs are amazing - but relatively speaking, there just aren't that many of them available across the DVC resorts. Maybe a 2BR and a 1BR at BC? Hope it works out....!

Advertise on the rent/trade board. You could easily trade Beach club points with another resort. Something like Copper Creek.. great 3Bed.

PSA:

The DIS Rent/Transfer Board does not accept 'Trade Wanted', 'Trade Offered', 'Transfer Wanted' or 'Reservation Wanted' threads.

Instead a poster is invited to reply to an existing thread that offers points for rent or points for transfer. Within that reply, a poster may offer to pay with points.

By not allowing THREADS that want points, transfers or a reservation, the chances of scammers contacting DIS posters are minimized. Trade THREADS were accepted in the distant past, but there were very few of them and virtually none were successful.

Noted and thanks. It would be good if these boards had a verified DVC member badge or similar. Swapping point requests will be more common leading from restrictions etc..

I’m not very knowledgeable about transfers w/ DVC, but I thought you were limited to one per year, so when I toyed w/ the idea of trying to trade VGF points for VGC points to get an 11 month booking for DL in 2022, the problem I couldn’t solve was the limit of 1 transfer per year - if I transferred VGC points in from someone that would count as my 1 transfer & I’d not be able to do a second transfer in order to transfer my VGF points out to the other owner & vice versa.

You, nor the person you are dealing with, can do more than one transfer per use year. You both can actually do two transfers at the same time as long as one is in the current use year and one is in the next use year. Also, you could do one transfer, and the recipient could do a reservation using his own points but putting the reservation in the other member's name. In other words, there are ways to do an exchange of points while doing only one transfer per use year.
