Booking 2BR SSR at 8 months - Early Dec

Hello all, my wife and I just purchased at SSR. Our closing date + 10 day delay in getting into Disney's system is going to put us at 8 months to book our early December trip. How likely is it that we will get a SSR 2BR res. at 8 months out? I am not sure if we should make other arrangements and bank our points for 2008. I was originally under the impression that early December would be easy to book even at 5-6 months out but lately I have been reading that early December has become increasingly popular with DVC owners and is becoming more difficult to book. Any info would be appreciated.

I think you have a fair chance of getting that at SSR at 8 months. SSR is the largest resort, and you will still be within the home resort exclusive booking window.

We Bought SSR last August, and were still able to get a 2 bedroom for December 16th thru the 22nd. this was within the 7 month window, (actually 5 months) I think you will be in great shape at 8 months.

I just bought last May and I haven't had a problem booking yet. I booked 2 bedroom villas at SSR for the week after Thanksgiving last year and the week before Christmas. I believe I did the actual transaction in June, so that was 5-6 months.

I just put in a request for VWL or SSR Dec 16-21st, so we'll see how I make out!

In general, only places you'll be fighting for rooms is VWL, BCV and BWV (to a lesser extent). VWL and BCV are the smallest of the resorts and tend to be wildly popular for owners. VWL is notorious for generating waitlists for early December while being within the 11-7 month window.

SSR should not be a problem for you. Only problem I had last year was booking a handicap accessible studio in early December at just under 7 months. I was able to get a HA one-bedroom though.
